My Oath to My Fellow Citizens

My Oath to the Citizens of Nebraska, so help me God. As a candidate for Secretary of State, I am running first and foremost on election integrity. Once elected, I will secure that integrity by making the elective process completely transparent. Without complete transparency in the elective process, we cannot guarantee election integrity. Without election integrity, we do not have "consent of the governed." The words "Trust your government," never fell from the mouth of any founding father, ever. When government refuses to be transparent, you can bet they have something to hide. An elective franchise without transparency and integrity is not an elective franchise. It's a charade, designed to make you think you have a voice when you don't. This charade has been going on for a long time. I intend to slam the brakes on it and give you back your voice and your consent.

Secondly, but no less important, I am running on using the "bully pulpit" that comes with elective office to defend your God-given rights—i.e., life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness and self-defense—against oath-breakers.

Our state constitution says your rights shall not be denied or infringed by the state or any subdivision thereof. Every elected official takes an oath to support that constitution. The question is, have they kept that oath over the last two years? Even a cursory look will tell you they have not. Many have engaged in rank tyranny and infringement, and in so doing, betrayed both their oath and you.

As for the rest, while they may not have engaged in tyranny, they still didn't keep their oath. If they had, they would have used their bully pulpit to come to your aid and defense. They would have called out, demeaned, and ridiculed the tyrants. They would have encouraged you to defy them and they would have stood beside you as you did so. I did not see one member of any branch of government at any level of government do this. They all remained silent. Not one stood in the gap and came to your defense. Not one fulfilled their oath. Not one pointed to the Constitution and hailed it as the supreme law of the land. They were all too afraid. (I take that back, there was one—Katie Sinsel. What a hero!) In contrast, I can assure you, because I've already been doing it for the last two years, that I will use the bully pulpit, and I will use it to search out fraud, corruption, and tyranny at every level of local and state government and shout it from the housetops. I will be your advocate! I will rail on wanna-be tyrants, point out their criminal activity, and come to your aid, defense and side. I will remind you of your rights. I will call you to rise up. Ours is a government of, by, and for the people. Government derives its power from our consent as the governed. The power resides in YOU, the great People of this great state, my Brothers and Sisters. Robert J. Borer

Your next Secretary of State, God, and you willing.
